Naomi Schrijver-Zrif

Naomi Schrijver-Zrif is a passionate and dedicated Social Worker, born in Sri Lanka and raised in the Netherlands. At just six weeks old, she and her biological Sri Lankan mother were living on the streets in critical condition. In an act of love and sacrifice, her mother gave her up for adoption, allowing Naomi to be adopted into a loving Dutch family, a life-changing and hopeful beginning that shaped her deep compassion for vulnerable children and families, particularly in Africa.

Her personal journey, from being given up in love to living a life filled with hope, became the foundation of her life’s mission: to give back and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing poverty, neglect, and inequality.

With a professional background as a Social Pedagogical Worker and Teaching Assistant, Naomi has spent years supporting individuals in challenging circumstances. Her heart especially lies with children and families who lack access to basic needs and opportunities.

Together with her husband Hamza, mother figure Julia of Township Walmer and a passionate local team of around 30 volunteers, she is actively involved in the NGO Organization Higher Call Helping Hands, dedicated to sustainable community development in Township Walmer, South Africa.

Through her leadership and commitment, several impactful projects have been initiated and supported since 2017, including:

* Food relief through a soup kitchen and food parcel programs

* Educational and youth development initiatives, such as sports coaching and music, dance, and singing projects

* Trauma coaching for victims of gender-based violence and sexual abuse (women and children), as well as emergency aid, rebuilding of shacks, medical assistance, and practical support — including the provision of innovative sanitation toilets for vulnerable families

* And together with partner J-Dutch Foundation Naomi will be the ground worker of the futures development of essential infrastructure, such as a Doctor’s Clinic, Ambulance Service, and Safe Shelter

Naomi is known for her compassionate and personal approach, her strong faith, and her ability to connect with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Her mission is clear: to bring hope, restore dignity, and create lasting, sustainable impact.

With her inspiring life story and unwavering dedication, Naomi stands as a bridge between worlds and a voice for those who are often unheard.
