Julia Mbambo

 

Julia Mbambo is a deeply respected and beloved mother figure within the community of Township Walmer, Port Elizabeth. Known for her compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication, she has become a pillar of hope for hundreds of vulnerable children and families.


Julia is a graduate in Mathematics, a background that contributes to her structured approach, strong problem-solving skills, and effective leadership within community initiatives.

 

She is the founder of the Soup Kitchen Project, where approximately 500 vulnerable children and families receive a warm meal on a daily basis. What began as an act of care has grown into a vital lifeline for the community, addressing hunger while providing a safe and nurturing environment.

 

Julia works tirelessly, day and night, delivering emergency and medical aid to her community. Whether responding to urgent needs, supporting families in crisis, or ensuring that no child goes to bed hungry, her commitment knows no limits. Her presence brings comfort, dignity and practical support to those facing hardship.

 

In addition to her frontline work, Julia plays a key leadership role within the NGO Organization Higher Call Helping Hands. Together with Hamza and Naomi Shanthi she actively oversees and guides around 30 dedicated volunteers. She provides direction structure and encouragement across multiple community projects.

 

These projects include the soupkitchen project, the rebuilding of informal homes (shacks), medical assistance and practical support such as the provision of innovative sanitation toilets for vulnerable families. Julia is also involved together with Naomi in providing trauma support for women and children affected by gender-based violence and sexual abuse.

 

In partnership with J-Dutch Foundation, Julia will play a key role as a ground worker in the future development of essential infrastructure, including a Doctor’s Clinic, Ambulance Service and Safe Shelter.

 

Through her selfless service and powerful leadership, Julia Mbambo continues to transform lives embodying true community care, resilience and hope for the people of Township Walmer, South Africa.
